Accounting Manager

About the role

The Accounting Manager at Hyatt Union Square New York oversees and performs hotel accounting functions and supervises the accounting team so that accounting standards and regulations are followed consistently. The role sits on a growth path from Assistant Controller to Controller and then Regional Director of Accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Interview, select, train, schedule, coach and support accounting associates so they meet brand and hotel standards.
• Plan and organise the accounting team's work, adjusting priorities to meet reporting deadlines.
• Review ledger account reconciliations covering bank statements, assets, liabilities and credit cards.
• Ensure internal audit standards are met and review invoices for goods and services and sign disbursement checks.
• Monitor cash receipt coding, prepare monthly utility and telephone accruals, and coordinate and review monthly financial statements for accuracy.
• Analyse financial trends, statistical ratios, variances, budgeting and forecasting.
• Administer house banks, conduct audits, coordinate with corporate accounting on payroll, and monitor inventory records.
• Review tax returns for state and federal compliance and prepare annual depreciation schedules.
• Assist with human resources needs when requested by management.

Required profile

• Previous accounting experience in the hospitality industry preferred.
• Ability to work varying hours, including holidays and weekends when deadlines require it, and to sit for extended periods.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel.
