Accounting Analyst 1 (Entry Level)

About the role

The Financial Accounting and Reporting division of LSU’s Office of Accounting Services seeks an entry‑level Accounting Analyst to support bank reconciliations, cash reporting, and financial statement preparation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare seven bank account reconciliations for multiple LSU System campuses and administer the Workday reconciliation system.
• Process monthly cash journal entries, state cash reports (e.g., ACT 587), and coordinate unclaimed property reporting.
• Assist faculty, staff, students, and vendors with check‑related issues, including stop payments and reissues.
• Request and track drawdowns of state appropriations and manage petty‑cash controls.
• Audit internal billings and cost transfers, review EIB submissions, and ensure compliance.
• Prepare accruals, adjustments, closing entries, GASB 35 entries, and footnotes for the LSU System’s Annual Financial Report.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field (or equivalent experience).
• Ability to sit for extended periods and use standard office equipment.
• Clear communication skills for phone, email, and presentations.
