Accountant – Healthcare Practice

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Accountant to support a healthcare practice in Baton Rouge. The role works closely with the Controller to ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting, and smooth daily transaction processing.

Key responsibilities

• Post journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and document routine accounting activity.
• Support accounts payable and billing by reviewing invoices, processing payments, and monitoring receivables.
• Assist with month‑end close tasks, including reconciliations, variance analysis, and schedule preparation.
• Compile data for financial reporting and budgeting, preparing recurring reports for leadership.
• Maintain audit readiness and regulatory compliance following healthcare accounting procedures.
• Perform manual data entry and reconciliation to verify transaction accuracy.
• Provide backup for payroll activities in coordination with HR when needed.
• Collaborate with the Controller on day‑to‑day accounting operations and special projects.

Required profile

• Experience in staff accounting or a similar role, preferably within a healthcare or medical practice.
• Working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliation.
• Familiarity with accounts payable, invoicing, and basic accounts receivable support.
• Understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and month‑end close procedures.
• Ability to assist with corporate tax return preparation or provide supporting documentation.
• Strong accuracy in manual data entry and transaction review.
• Knowledge of compliance expectations, internal controls, and audit support.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
