Workday Specialist / Principal / Architect

About the role

Maryland Environmental Service is seeking a senior Workday Specialist/Principal/Architect to lead the implementation and optimization of Workday solutions across multiple modules. The role is based at the headquarters in Millersville, MD and supports the agency’s mission to provide environmental solutions statewide.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, configuration, and maintenance of Workday modules including HCM, Finance, Security, Procurement, Talent, Payroll and Workforce Management.
• Plan and execute Workday implementation projects, ensuring alignment with business needs and best practices.
• Develop and optimize business processes and system architecture across all Workday modules.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on Workday implementation and architecture experience.
• Strong project management skills with ability to lead complex initiatives from inception to completion.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required skills

• Workday configuration and business process design.
• Deep knowledge of Workday HCM, Finance, Security and Procurement modules.
• Workday system architecture and security design.
• Workday certifications in HCM, Finance, Security and/or Procurement (highly desirable).
