Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (Counselor 1)

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Counselor 1 to deliver vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities in Gwinnett County. Working from the Johns Creek office, you will help clients achieve competitive, integrated employment under direct supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain referral sources.
• Interview VR participants and review education, vocational, psychological, and medical information.
• Travel within the caseload area to meet clients, providers, and partners.
• Determine eligibility, conduct needs assessments, and create individualized employment plans.
• Guide participants through the rehabilitation process, from goal setting to job search and case closure.
• Monitor client progress and ensure timely service delivery.
• Document all activities accurately in the AWARE client information system.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with departmental guidelines.
• Provide public education about rehabilitation services.
• Process authorizations and invoices according to policy.
