Counselor 1 – Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services

About the role

Join the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency as a Counselor 1 dedicated to supporting individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Under direct supervision, you will help clients achieve competitive, integrated employment through personalized vocational services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain referral sources and conduct interviews with participants.
• Review and interpret educational, vocational, psychological, and medical information.
• Travel within the assigned area to meet clients, providers, and partners.
• Determine eligibility, conduct needs assessments, and create individualized employment plans.
• Guide participants through the rehabilitation process, including job‑search assistance and case closure.
• Monitor client progress, ensure timely service delivery, and document activities in the AWARE system.
• Maintain confidentiality and provide public education about rehabilitation services.
• Process authorizations and invoices in accordance with agency policies.

Required profile

• Ability to work under direct supervision delivering vocational rehabilitation services.
• Strong organizational and collaboration skills.
• Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards.
• Competencies in technical capacity, personal effectiveness, thoroughness, and collaboration.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the AWARE client information system.
