Counselor 1 (Deaf Hard of Hearing)

About the role

The Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency is seeking a Counselor 1 to provide vocational rehabilitation services to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Working under direct supervision, you will help clients achieve competitive, integrated employment outcomes while navigating the rehabilitation process.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain referral sources and conduct interviews with potential participants.
• Review and interpret education, vocational, psychological, and medical information.
• Travel within the assigned area to meet clients, providers, and partners.
• Determine eligibility, conduct comprehensive needs assessments, and develop individualized employment plans.
• Guide participants through goal setting, job search, and case closure.
• Monitor client progress and ensure timely service delivery.
• Document all activities accurately in the AWARE client information system.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to departmental guidelines.
• Provide public education about rehabilitation services.
• Process authorizations and invoices in line with policies.

Required profile

• Ability to work under direct supervision and provide services to individuals with disabilities.
• Strong technical capacity, personal credibility, and organizational skills.
• Thoroughness, collaboration skills, and adherence to confidentiality standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the AWARE client information system.
