Variance Underpayment Analyst

About the role

Revecore helps hospitals recover earned revenue by ensuring accurate reimbursement for services. As a Variance Underpayment Analyst on the Revenue Integrity team, you will examine hospital claims, identify payment discrepancies, and work with insurers and internal stakeholders to resolve underpayments.

Key responsibilities

• Use company best practices, technology‑enabled worklists, and internal tools to detect discrepancies between expected and actual reimbursements.
• Investigate causes of variances such as coding errors, billing issues, or incorrect payer policy application.
• Contact insurance carriers to obtain missing information, explain issues, and arrange payment adjustments.
• Prepare and submit correspondence—including letters, emails, faxes, online inquiries, appeals, and reports—and post payments.
• Maintain thorough documentation of root causes, trends, outcomes, and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
• Participate in team discussions and brainstorming sessions to suggest process enhancements.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Investigative and problem‑solving mindset with strong analytical abilities.
• Knowledge of healthcare billing, coding, and reimbursement methodologies.
• Experience navigating payer policies (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurers) and regulatory frameworks (HIPAA, CMS).
• Ability to work remotely in a quiet, distraction‑free environment with reliable high‑speed internet.

Required skills

• Proficiency with healthcare billing software such as EPIC, Cerner, or Meditech.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
