Transportation Engineer / Technical Lead

About the role

DRMP is looking for a hands‑on, mid‑level Transportation Engineer to act as the technical lead for its Gainesville office. The role blends active transportation design work with mentorship of University of Florida interns and early‑career staff, supporting projects across DRMP’s national network.

Key responsibilities

• Provide transportation engineering design, modeling, and plan production for projects led by other DRMP offices.
• Use OpenRoads Designer and model‑based workflows to generate designs, quantities, and technical deliverables.
• Coordinate with project managers and technical leads to align schedules, budgets, standards, and client requirements.
• Train and supervise UF interns and junior staff in design fundamentals, ORD usage, file management, and production processes.
• Review and give feedback on junior staff work, ensuring quality and compliance with DRMP standards.

Required profile

• Mid‑level experience in transportation engineering and roadway design.
• Demonstrated ability to apply engineering judgment to a variety of project types.
• Strong communication skills for mentoring and cross‑office collaboration.
• Interest in developing a sustainable talent pipeline with the University of Florida.
