Buyer III (B3)

About the role

As a Buyer you will be responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, machinery, and services that equip Applied Materials' state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facilities. You will work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure inventory levels meet production plans and drive cost‑effective procurement solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering to maintain planned inventory levels.
• Resolve material‑related accounting and receiving issues.
• Develop and implement business simplification methods for procurement.
• Participate in the creation of ISO documents for the purchasing function.
• Manage purchasing group activities in the manager’s absence and oversee project cost, schedule, and scope.
• Distribute workload among Buyers, train and audit lower‑level personnel.

Required profile

• Demonstrated conceptual and practical expertise in procurement and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
• Understanding of best practices, market competition, and how procurement integrates with other functions.
• Ability to act as a resource for less‑experienced colleagues and lead small, low‑risk projects.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, capable of analyzing multiple information sources.
• Impact on customer, operational, and project activities across teams while working within broad guidelines.
• Effective interpersonal communication, able to explain sensitive information and build consensus.
