Tech Lead & Manager, Production Engineering

About the role

Ramp is looking for a hands‑on Tech Lead and Manager to own and evolve critical production infrastructure that powers billions of dollars in financial transactions. You will lead a high‑performing team while staying deeply involved in building and operating scalable, reliable systems.

Key responsibilities

• Build, coach, and grow a high‑performing engineering team, providing feedback, mentorship, and technical direction.
• Design and deliver infrastructure across compute, storage, messaging, and observability stacks, including the migration to a cellular architecture.
• Drive architectural change by identifying reliability or scalability problems, proposing solutions, and seeing them through to completion.
• Partner with product teams during design phases to embed golden paths and ensure correct first‑time builds.
• Develop developer tooling and self‑service infrastructure to enable teams to answer cost, performance, and reliability questions autonomously.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and use incidents as signals to eliminate root causes.

Required profile

• Strong passion for building teams, mentoring engineers, and writing production‑grade code.
• Player‑coach mindset: able to delegate, coach, and stay technically hands‑on when it adds leverage.
• Experience leading technical direction, aligning stakeholders, and delivering large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Bias for action with urgency while maintaining disciplined, high‑quality outcomes.
