Team Lead - Electrical Engineering, Oil and Gas

About the role

Atwell, a consulting, engineering and construction firm serving real estate, land development and energy markets, is hiring a Team Lead for its Oil and Gas group. You will lead a team of engineers, drafters, designers and technicians that serves industrial clients, focusing on completing electrical engineering scopes accurately, on time and to a high standard. The role is open only to candidates living in or around Midland/Odessa, Texas, and is performed remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Grow and scale the team with the Director of the Oil and Gas vertical, helping formulate an annual business plan
• Ensure high backlog, utilization and margins, and use resource planning tools to balance workload across peers
• Assign work to entry-level engineers, technicians or administrative staff and coordinate it
• Support business development, prepare proposals and reviews of submittals against client specifications
• Review and verify the work of engineers, drafters and field service personnel for quality and accuracy
• Prepare technical write-ups for change orders, cost estimates, budget reports and studies
• Mentor and coach team members through individualized development plans
• Attend safety training, follow safety rules, and visit key accounts quarterly

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology (electric power option preferred)
• 5+ years of engineering or relevant field experience
• PE preferred, but can be offset with industry experience
• Currently authorized to work in the United States and living in the Midland/Odessa, Texas area
• Nice to have: previous leadership experience, oil and gas power engineering experience, and knowledge of contracts, rates and terms

Required skills

• Nice to have: power system software such as PSSE, PSCAD, PLSCADD, ETAP, SKM
• Nice to have: AI tools such as ChatGPT and Copilot, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
