Surgical Technician

About the role

Join the surgical team at Lehigh Valley Health Network, a nationally recognized health system. As a Surgical Technician you will scrub, maintain the sterile field, and support surgeons during operative procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate safe and effective invasive surgical procedures and maintain a safe operating room environment.
• Perform surgical counts, organize case carts, and prepare sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Maintain the sterile field using aseptic techniques and ensure equipment functions properly.
• Perform in‑between case cleaning turnover in the operating suite.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED or Technical School Diploma in Surgical Technology.
• Less than 1 year of experience; ability to adapt to constant change in a healthcare setting.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Physical ability to lift/carry 40‑50 lb, stand for long periods, and walk 8‑10 miles per shift.

Required skills

• BLS – Basic Life Support (American Heart Association).
• CST – Certified Surgical Technologist (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting).
• TS‑C – Certified Tech in Surgery (National Center for Competency Testing).
• Knowledge of medical and surgical supplies and sterile techniques.
