Staff Pharmacist – Online Pharmacy Operations

About the role

We are seeking a Staff Pharmacist to join Amazon Pharmacy’s fast‑growing online pharmacy operation in San Antonio. The role combines clinical review, prescription verification and hands‑on fulfillment to ensure customers receive safe, timely medication.

Key responsibilities

• Perform clinical data review, prescription verification and virtual patient consultations in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Manage end‑to‑end prescription fulfillment, dispensing medications using the Parata Max2 automated system and manual fill processes.
• Package and prepare prescriptions for shipment or site injection, handling specialized items such as refrigerated and bulk medications.
• Maintain strict quality and safety standards while meeting Critical Pull Times (CPT) and production targets.
• Allocate time between verification and fulfillment duties based on operational needs and volume.
• Conduct thorough Drug Utilization Reviews (DUR) and ensure accurate documentation in pharmacy systems.
• Monitor, receive and manage pharmacy inventory compliantly.
• Collaborate with pharmacy technicians and fellow pharmacists to sustain efficient workflow.
• Adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify and report quality or safety concerns promptly, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Handle daily operational tasks such as processing returns, medication rejects, therapeutic substitutions and canister approvals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Science or a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
• Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of employment.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws and federal/state regulations concerning patient care.
• Ability to work 8‑12 hour shifts, stand, bend, lift up to 49 lb and perform other physical tasks as required.

Required skills

• Experience with the Parata Max2 automated dispensing system.
• Proficiency in Windows desktop environment, Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Familiarity with web browsers such as Internet Explorer and Firefox.
