Staff Accountant - Remote

About the role

A growing healthcare organization is looking for a detail-oriented, analytical Staff Accountant to join its finance team. The role focuses on multi-entity financial recordkeeping, intercompany reconciliations, month-end closing and financial reporting across 16 clinic locations and their associated entities. It is a full-time remote position with working hours aligned to U.S. Central Time, and the accountant prepares the accounting work for the Controller's review.

Key responsibilities

• Payroll and expense accounting: run bi-weekly payroll through ADP, reconcile to QuickBooks Online, and prepare payroll journal entries and recurring shared-cost allocations.
• General ledger and intercompany: reconcile balance sheet liabilities (taxes, benefits), maintain allocation schedules, and assist with intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
• Accounts payable support alongside the AP Lead: review coding and classification, reconcile AP to the general ledger, resolve vendor and payment discrepancies, and provide backup AP coverage.
• Cash and revenue reconciliation: reconcile cash receipts, deposits, billing records and revenue activity, investigate variances, and support AR accounting and escalations to the Controller.
• Accounting operations: maintain close checklists, workpapers and documentation for audits and tax requests, clean up QBO, and improve efficiency as the organization grows.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field preferred; CPA or equivalent is a plus.
• 3 to 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Direct hands-on experience with multi-entity, multi-location or multi-subsidiary accounting; healthcare or medical practice experience preferred.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Ability to work remotely with a stable high-speed internet connection and overlap with U.S. Central Time business hours.

Required skills

• Cloud accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct or similar.
• Advanced MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFs).
