Senior Trial Attorney

About the role

Zurich is seeking a Senior Liability Trial Attorney to join its in‑house Staff Legal team. The attorney will represent commercial insureds of a financially stable insurance carrier, handling high‑complexity General Liability and Commercial Auto personal injury cases. The position is based in Alabama, ideally the Birmingham area, with virtual work options.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct full‑cycle insurance defense including investigation, legal analysis, advice, and case strategy.
• Prepare and file pleadings, conduct legal research using Lexis or Westlaw, and manage pre‑trial discovery.
• Lead hearings and trials, handle post‑trial activities, and negotiate settlements.
• Work independently and collaboratively in a remote, video‑conference‑enabled team environment.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor with 7+ years of litigation experience.
• Member of the Alabama Bar in good standing.
• First‑chair jury trial experience.
• Knowledge of insurance industry claims and defense litigation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using Adobe software.
• Research skills with Lexis or Westlaw.
