Paralegal I – Litigation Support

About the role

Zurich North America’s Staff Legal Office is seeking a Paralegal I to support moderate to complex liability litigation cases. The role is remote with occasional on‑site attendance in California.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal support to two attorneys, including drafting pleadings, correspondence, and other documents.
• Conduct legal and documentary research, monitor case schedules, and manage filing deadlines.
• Interview parties, summarize depositions, review discovery responses and medical records.
• Prepare and respond to discovery requests, subpoena non‑parties, and organize records.
• Schedule surveillance, compulsory medical exams, and site inspections; assist in trial preparation.
• Maintain electronic case files, track billable hours, and collaborate with claims professionals and leadership.

Required profile

• High School Diploma with 4+ years legal support experience OR Associate Degree with 2+ years experience.
• Experience conducting electronic database research and drafting legal documents.
• For California candidates: paralegal certificate from an ABA‑approved program, or equivalent education and supervised experience.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office suite.
• Electronic database research tools (e.g., LexisNexis).
• E‑filing systems for California courts.
• Litigation management software.
