Liability Trial Attorney

About the role

Zurich Insurance is seeking a Liability Trial Attorney to join its Chicago Staff Legal office on a hybrid schedule, working one day per week onsite at Willis Tower. The role offers the chance to handle complex liability matters while maintaining work‑life balance.

Key responsibilities

• Represent commercial insureds in General Liability, Commercial Auto, Products Liability, and employment cases with moderate to high exposure.
• Conduct investigations, legal analysis, and provide advice; draft pleadings, conduct discovery, and manage pre‑trial preparation.
• Handle hearings and trials aggressively, and perform post‑trial activities as needed.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor with at least 5 years of litigation experience.
• Member in good standing of the Illinois State Bar Association (preferred Indiana Bar membership).
• Demonstrated trial and settlement skills, ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using Adobe tools.
• Familiarity with legal research platforms Lexis or Westlaw.
