Senior Software Engineer – Government Compliance Platform

About the role

Vanta is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead the technical foundation of its Government compliance offering. You will design and build the systems, patterns, and architecture that enable federal agencies, government vendors, and SLED organizations to automate complex frameworks such as FedRAMP, CMMC, and NIST.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex, multi‑stakeholder projects that extend Vanta’s core compliance platform for government use.
• Design and implement new product capabilities, including core workflow features that do not yet exist.
• Collaborate with early design partners to validate requirements and iterate rapidly.
• Partner with adjacent engineering teams on shared infrastructure and tagging systems specific to government compliance.
• Translate ambiguous early‑stage requirements into durable, scalable solutions across engineering, product, and go‑to‑market.
• Contribute to Vanta’s engineering culture as the team scales.

Required profile

• 5+ years of industry experience in software engineering.
• Strong systems thinking and platform architecture skills, with a focus on reuse, scalability, and maintainability.
• Experience in highly regulated industries (fintech, healthcare) is a plus.
• Comfortable working in early‑stage, 0→1 environments where requirements evolve.
• Product‑mindset with the ability to balance technical decisions and business impact.
