Senior Clinical Medical Lab Scientist (Full-Time)

About the role

Ochsner is seeking a Senior Clinical Medical Lab Scientist to perform routine and specialized laboratory tests, coordinate new procedures, and resolve technical issues. The role includes supervisory responsibilities for a department section, ensuring reliable patient testing and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and special laboratory procedures and coordinate clinical competency within the section.
• Maintain regulatory compliance, quality control, and performance improvement activities.
• Assist and consult with the laboratory supervisor or director on technical matters.
• Supervise department operations, monitor equipment, and troubleshoot complex data.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• At least 4 years of clinical laboratory experience, including one year in the specific lab section.
• Current state license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist or Specialist) meeting CLIA and CAP requirements.
• ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑based laboratory information systems and data entry.
• Advanced analytical skills for complex data analysis and equipment troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and other accreditation standards.
• ASCP certification maintenance.
