Perioperative Pharmacist – Surgery Center

About the role

The Perioperative Pharmacist provides comprehensive drug therapy management for patients in a multidisciplinary surgical setting, ensuring safe, rational, and cost‑effective medication use.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluates physician orders based on patient-specific factors such as allergies, renal function, lab values, and best practice protocols.
• Ensures safe and accurate preparation and dispensing of medications, including sterile products and investigational drugs.
• Manages drug therapy to optimize patient outcomes through interventions, adverse‑drug‑reaction assessment, and patient education.
• Maintains professional knowledge, licensure, and certifications through continuing education.
• Oversees pharmacy operations in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (Pharm.D preferred) and a current state pharmacy license.
• Proficient computer skills for data entry, retrieval of patient information, and use of Windows‑style applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare team members.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, stooping, bending, and working a flexible schedule including weekends and on‑call availability.
