Senior Civil/Structural Engineer - Oil & Gas Pipelines and Facilities

About the role

Atwell, a consulting, engineering and construction firm serving real estate, land development and energy markets, is looking for a licensed Civil/Structural Engineer (PE) with experience in oil and gas structural design. The work covers oil and natural gas, CO2, hydrogen and renewable natural gas pipelines, terminals, compressor stations and processing facilities, from concept through construction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead civil and structural design for oil and gas infrastructure such as pipelines, pump stations, compressor stations, terminals and process facilities
• Develop construction documents: structural plans, general arrangements, framing plans and connection details for steel and concrete structures
• Support ductwork system design, including routing, equipment interfaces and structural supports, coordinating with piping, mechanical and electrical teams
• Run structural analysis for wind, seismic, blast and equipment loads in line with codes (IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, API)
• Review and approve calculations, drawings and reports from internal teams and subcontractors
• Perform field visits to check as-built conditions and gather site data
• Mentor junior engineers and monitor schedules, budgets and resources
• Apply the company's QA/QC procedures

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (Master's a plus)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• 7+ years of civil/structural engineering experience in oil and gas facilities or similar industrial infrastructure

Required skills

• Structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro, RISA or SAP2000
• CAD tools including AutoCAD, CADWorx and Civil 3D
• Knowledge of design codes: AISC, ACI, ASCE, API, IBC
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor, Navisworks or Tekla Structures is a plus
