Senior Associate, Modeling & Simulation Engineer

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Senior Associate, Modeling & Simulation Engineer to support the design, development, and delivery of innovative eye‑care medical devices. The role focuses on advanced finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) within a regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead FEA and CFD efforts for surgical R&D, delivering faster, cost‑effective innovation.
• Perform advanced structural and dynamic simulations (linear/non‑linear, implicit/explicit, impact, transient, frequency) on complex, multi‑material systems.
• Develop multi‑physics, large‑scale models for virtual prototyping across the product lifecycle.
• Validate simulation results against experimental data and support regulatory submissions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 2+ years of relevant experience in modeling and simulation.
• Strong foundation in structural mechanics, dynamics, material modeling, and CFD.
• Experience working with medical devices or in regulated R&D environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Ansys Mechanical, ANSYS FLUENT, LS‑DYNA, and OptiStruct.
• Hands‑on experience in finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
• Ability to create and analyze multi‑physics, large‑scale simulation models.
