Security Software Engineer

About the role

RunSybil is building an AI‑driven pentester called Sybil and needs a Security Software Engineer who can own the research and development of offensive capabilities from discovery to production delivery. The role is fully remote within the United States and offers a fast‑paced environment where you translate security intuition into repeatable, AI‑powered features.

Key responsibilities

• Research and develop offensive agentic capabilities that become core Sybil features.
• Hunt for real vulnerabilities across diverse target environments and turn findings into automated techniques.
• Design, build, and ship end‑to‑end customer‑facing features, from research spikes to production deployment.
• Create LLM‑powered tooling to extend Sybil’s reach across attack surfaces.
• Identify gaps in offensive coverage and propose technical initiatives without waiting for direction.

Required profile

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with a strong background in offensive security.
• Hands‑on experience finding vulnerabilities via red teaming, bug bounty, CTFs, or production pentesting.
• Ability to work independently, define problems, build solutions, and see them through.
• Strong written communication to explain vulnerabilities, design decisions, and trade‑offs.

Required skills

• Python (backend systems design, deployment, maintenance).
• Modern JavaScript and React (full‑stack feature ownership).
• Experience with LLMs or generative AI tools, including prompt engineering and model integration.
• DevOps and infrastructure concepts, including ownership of deployment pipelines.

What we offer

• Base salary ranging from $170,000 to $210,000 per year.
