RN Infusion (PRN, Days Only)

About the role

aoncology is hiring a PRN infusion nurse for its Fort Wayne Medical Oncology and Hematology practice. The nurse delivers safe, accurate and efficient patient care, including patient assessment, medication safety, dose verification and drug administration, and follows the role's Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs).

Key responsibilities

• Safely and accurately administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care and non-oncologic agents as ordered by providers, using ONS standards and guidelines.
• Provide triage care when needed and communicate patient conditions to the multidisciplinary team.
• Document treatment thoroughly, accurately and timely in the EMR, capture appropriate charges and follow proper patient identification.
• Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects and the planned treatment course.
• Prioritize incoming calls and messages from patients, families, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies and physician offices and respond in the appropriate time frame.
• Assist with inventory and restocking of medical supplies, place stock in storage areas and recommend purchases.
• Complete annual safety and nursing trainings, attend mandatory staff meetings, assist in training new employees and comply with patient privacy, safety and labour laws.
• Work at any company location as needed and work overtime when given sufficient notice.

Required profile

• Nursing degree and unencumbered RN license in the state of employment or a multi-state license.
• Current CPR and BLS certifications and a valid driver's license with a vehicle for travel between clinic locations.
• Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting.
• Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-site environment and to work remotely when required.
