Radiation Therapist

About the role

The Radiation Therapist (RTT) reports to the Radiation Therapy Lead and delivers the technical part of radiation therapy treatments in the Radiation Oncology department. The role covers treatment delivery, patient care, documentation and quality assurance, with a pay range of $34.62 - $50.70.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver radiation treatments according to written prescriptions and treatment plans, ensuring safety through consistent use of departmental procedures.
• Identify the correct patient, escort them to the treatment room, assist them onto the table, position them, deliver radiation from the control room and help them exit.
• Document treatment records completely and accurately, report deviations to the Radiation Therapy Lead and/or physician, and explain procedures to patients and families.
• Observe patients for treatment reactions, reinforce education on side effects and non-compliance, and perform patient simulations and data entry into the EMR when requested by the physician.
• Perform and document daily and weekly QA checklists, notify the team of out-of-range findings, and participate in quality improvement programs.
• Assist with transporting patients, reviewing charts and ordering supplies, and handle emergencies with first aid and CPR until a physician or nurse arrives.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology school (BS preferred).
• At least one year of active experience as a Radiation Therapist; recent graduates eligible for the registry are considered and must pass the RTT Registry exam within 6 months of hire.
• Certified as a Registered Radiation Therapy Technologist (ARRT); dual certification as a General Radiographer or CT Technologist preferred.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Fluent English; Spanish is desirable.
• Work schedule Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm, with rare travel.
