About the role
The Georgia Department of Revenue is seeking a Revenue Agent 1 for its Gainesville Regional Office. In this entry‑level position you will help determine tax liability and collect taxes from individuals and businesses in accordance with state law.
Key responsibilities
- Determine tax liability for individuals, partnerships, and corporations.
- Investigate tax records using computer inquiries, telephone interviews, and document review.
- Assist delinquent taxpayers to become voluntarily compliant through payment agreements, offers in compromise, and collection actions.
- Prepare tax assessments and ensure accurate collection.
- Communicate with customers, tax professionals, local officials, and internal teams.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of experience in collections, bookkeeping, accounting, finance, or as a Revenue Agent Trainee.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow tax laws and regulations.
Required skills
- Basic knowledge of tax regulations and collection procedures.
- Proficiency with computer systems for record inquiries.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
