Research Assistant (Laboratory)

About the role

Saint Louis University is seeking a motivated Research Assistant to support ongoing laboratory investigations. The role involves hands‑on experimental work, routine equipment maintenance, and data management in a collaborative academic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with design, implementation, and execution of research projects.
• Prepare culture media, reagents, and manage experimental animals.
• Perform assays, injections, and grow cell cultures.
• Operate and maintain scientific apparatus such as spectrophotometers, centrifuges, incubators, homogenizers, and microscopes.
• Conduct chromatography, electrophoresis, and other purification techniques.
• Perform clerical duties including data entry, record keeping, and correspondence.
• Compile, process, and analyze experimental data.
• Order laboratory supplies and perform minor equipment repairs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or a closely related field.
• Broad knowledge of laboratory techniques and ability to follow detailed protocols.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
