JROTC Instructor – Career & Technical Education (CTE)

About the role

The Buffalo Board of Education is seeking a qualified JROTC Instructor to lead the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program at Hutchinson Central Technical High School for the 2026‑2027 school year. The instructor will be responsible for delivering the JROTC curriculum, fostering character development, and coordinating a range of co‑curricular activities.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the JROTC curriculum and ensure compliance with program requirements.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise co‑curricular activities such as drill meets, military balls, encampments, and honor guard duties.
• Manage unit property, budget, and fundraising initiatives.
• Assess student progress through formal and informal evaluations and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
• Develop thematic units and interdisciplinary projects to enhance learning.
• Instruct 180 hours of character‑development material in classroom and laboratory settings.
• Oversee extracurricular teams (drill, physical training, academic challenge) and cadet leadership positions.
• Collaborate with school faculty to promote cadet involvement, recruitment, and retention.
• Provide counseling, mentorship, and tutoring to cadets as needed.

Required profile

• Hold required JROTC certifications in accordance with JROTC rules and regulations.
• Be a former service member with a rank of Non‑Commissioned Officer (E6‑E9) or Commissioned Officer (O‑3 to O‑6) from any U.S. military branch.
• Certified as a JROTC instructor by the appropriate branch of service.
