Special Education Teacher (K-6)

About the role

We are seeking a certified Special Education Teacher to instruct kindergarten through 6th‑grade students in the Buffalo Public Schools. The role involves planning, delivering, and evaluating instructional programs that meet diverse learning needs and support students’ academic and personal growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and individualized education programs (IEPs).
• Prepare classroom environments and provide a variety of learning materials and resources.
• Utilize instructional technologies to enhance learning experiences.
• Assess student performance, assign and grade work, and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and prepare required reports.
• Manage classroom behavior, enforce school policies, and promote a positive learning atmosphere.
• Participate in departmental, school, and district meetings, as well as professional development activities.

Required profile

• New York State or Buffalo certification in Special Education for K‑6.
• Proof of certification attached to the application (PDF or screenshot).
• Preference given to candidates residing in the City of Buffalo.
