Cross Country Coach (Grades 5‑8) – Elementary School

About the role

The Buffalo Board of Education seeks a qualified Cross Country Coach for grades 5‑8 at PS 93 Southside Elementary. The coach will develop student‑athletes, teach game strategies, and prepare them for competition throughout the 2026‑2027 school year.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, conduct, and supervise cross country practices and meets, Monday through Saturday and on selected holidays.
• Maintain equipment, uniforms, and supplies, including inventory, cleaning, and storage.
• Submit equipment and supply requests to the Athletic Director.
• Uphold the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics and model nondiscriminatory practices.
• Foster positive relationships with administrators, parents, students, and community members.
• Attend required meetings and represent the athletic program as needed.

Required profile

• Valid physical‑education teaching certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification prior to coaching.
• Completion of the New York State Coaching Certification program or the NFHS pathway within the specified timeframe.
• Experience in organized cross country at club, junior varsity, varsity, or college level is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cross country rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques.
