Registered Nurse – Operating Room

About the role

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Operating Room team at its Muhlenberg location. The role involves direct patient care before, during, and after surgery, ensuring a safe and efficient environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, patient positioning, and wound management.
• Perform circulating duties, monitoring patient condition and managing overall nursing care throughout the procedure.
• Execute scrub functions, selecting and handling instruments and supplies.
• Inspect sterile items for integrity and verify chemical indicators.
• Control the operative environment, including temperature, warm blankets, and traffic flow.

Required profile

• Specialized Diploma in Nursing with less than 1 year of operating room experience or completion of a peri‑operative internship.
• Current RN license in Pennsylvania.
• Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association).
• Ability to lift and carry 40‑50 lb and stand/walk for long periods.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) – preferred.
• CCICBPN certification – preferred.
