Registered Nurse – Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit

About the role

The Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) at Lehigh Valley Hospital‑Cedar Crest. This position provides professional nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in a high‑acuity environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for designated patients, collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members.
• Utilize evidence‑based practice, participate in quality and safety initiatives, and contribute to performance improvement processes.
• Provide patient and family education throughout the treatment course and support smooth transitions of care.
• Perform validated technical skills specific to the NSICU, including use of advanced technology and equipment.
• Teach, mentor and precept new staff and interns, delegating tasks based on skill level and patient acuity.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current RN licensure in Pennsylvania.
• Ability to organize and prioritize assignments and maintain unit‑specific competencies.
• Successful completion of specialty orientation programs and ongoing competency maintenance.

Required skills

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification (required upon hire).
• Basic computer skills for documentation and technology use.
