Registered Nurse – Emergency Room Night Shift

About the role

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Emergency Room team at its Schuylkill location on the night shift. The role involves delivering professional nursing care, coordinating with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring patient safety in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for designated patients, collaborating with physicians and other team members.
• Provide patient and family education throughout the treatment course to facilitate smooth transitions of care.
• Participate in evidence‑based practice, quality improvement initiatives, and performance improvement processes.
• Teach and mentor new colleagues, precept interns, and delegate tasks based on skill level and patient acuity.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current RN licensure in Pennsylvania.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple patient assignments effectively.
• Successful completion of unit‑specific orientation and competency assessments.
• Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lb, stand/walk for long periods, and perform CPR as needed.

Required skills

• Basic computer proficiency.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification (required upon hire).
• Knowledge of current nursing practice standards and ANA Scope of Practice.
