Purchasing Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead sourcing strategy and improve supplier performance for our client in New Orleans, Louisiana. The role balances cost efficiency, product standards, and supply reliability while collaborating with leadership and cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Direct strategic sourcing activities, manage competitive bid events, and select suppliers aligned with business goals.
• Oversee daily purchasing operations, including procurement requests, purchase orders, and order communication.
• Drive savings through pricing analysis, supplier negotiations, and cost‑effective sourcing decisions.
• Develop and maintain landed cost models to evaluate sourcing scenarios.
• Evaluate, approve, and onboard new vendors with operational, quality, and technical stakeholders.
• Monitor market conditions, commodity trends, and economic factors to mitigate risks.
• Prepare and present sourcing recommendations, supplier evaluations, and business cases to executives.
• Lead supplier performance reviews, manage contracts, and create alternate sourcing options.
• Partner with demand planning, research, quality, and operations to align procurement with forecasts and inventory strategy.
• Support procurement process improvements and tool adoption.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or contract management.
• At least 3 years working with raw materials, agricultural products, or specialty ingredients.
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven ability to lead RFx events, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships.
• Strong understanding of cost analysis, commodity dynamics, and total landed cost.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.
