Principal Scientist – Nonclinical Drug Safety

About the role

The Discovery Program Leader (DPL) will represent Nonclinical Drug Safety on discovery research teams, focusing on immunology and oncology. This senior scientific role drives strategy from target identification through first‑in‑human GLP toxicity studies.

Key responsibilities

• Define and oversee NDS strategy for programs across all modalities, from target ID to GLP toxicology.
• Provide risk assessments and de‑risking strategies for therapeutic targets and candidates.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional discovery teams and NDS staff at multiple sites.
• Lead early development teams and contribute to GLP study strategy and regulatory documentation.

Required profile

• PhD, DVM, MD or equivalent with at least 8 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in non‑clinical safety.
• Proven ability to navigate matrix organizations and drive decision‑making.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to influence cross‑functional teams.
