Power Distribution Technician – Walt Disney World

About the role

Disney’s Reedy Creek Energy Services is seeking a Power Distribution Technician to operate and maintain its electric utility transmission, distribution and industrial systems across Walt Disney World. The position involves field work on elevated platforms and in confined spaces, supporting the resort’s power infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Operate electric utility power distribution protection and industrial electrical systems.
• Provide emergency response and restore service during utility outages.
• Perform preventive maintenance on power distribution and industrial equipment.
• Test, calibrate, and repair electric utility and distribution hardware.
• Handle cleaning chemicals and use required personal protective equipment.

Required profile

• Valid Florida Class A or B commercial driver’s license (or ability to obtain with air‑brake endorsement).
• Journeyman Electrician certification.
• Experience with power distribution, generation systems and substation operations.
• Familiarity with protection devices and high‑voltage systems up to 69 kV.
• Knowledge of OSHA lock‑out/tag‑out procedures and high‑voltage switching/tagging.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and interpret blueprints.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb and work in confined spaces.
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.

• Substation operation and protection systems.

• OSHA lock‑out/tag‑out safety procedures.
• Electrical schematic reading.
• Blueprint interpretation.
• Journeyman Electrician qualification.
• Commercial driver’s license (Class A/B) with air‑brake endorsement.
