Physicist I – Diagnostic Imaging

About the role

The Physicist I supports all areas involving ionizing and non‑ionizing radiation related to imaging and non‑imaging equipment. Working under the guidance of the Director and Board Certified Health/Medical Physicists, the role ensures safety, regulatory compliance, and optimal performance of medical imaging systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with acceptance testing and performance verification of new and existing radiological imaging equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain and manage compliance testing schedules for imaging equipment, test equipment, and phantoms.
• Ensure equipment meets regulatory and accreditation standards (PA DEP, ACR, TJC, etc.) and support the quality management program.
• Identify and troubleshoot image quality issues and contribute to continuous improvement of the radiation safety program.
• Participate in patient dose monitoring programs and provide dose determinations for procedures.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Medical Physics (CAMPEP accredited) or equivalent health physics qualification.
• At least 1 year of practical institutional experience as a diagnostic medical physicist or in a medical/health physics setting.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards for medical imaging.
