Part-Time Information Counselor – South Padre Island

About the role

The Information Counselor provides front‑desk support and administrative assistance to visitors of South Padre Island. Working part‑time, you will greet guests, answer travel‑related inquiries, and manage daily mail and parcel handling for the City Hall and Convention Centre.

Key responsibilities

• Greet walk‑in visitors and deliver accurate travel information, routing, and weather updates.
• Answer telephone calls with travel and weather details for the island and surrounding areas.
• Prepare travel routes and respond to mail and email requests.
• Maintain daily statistics on visitors served and perform routine clerical duties such as filing, sorting mail, and creating correspondence.
• Handle opening and closing procedures for the Visitors Center each day.
• Inventory, stock, and reorder promotional literature and brochures.
• Assist in training part‑time staff and volunteers.
• Deliver, pick up, and distribute daily mail and parcels; monitor postage machines and cash accounts.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with coursework in general office practices.
• At least one year of experience in a hospitality‑related or similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Bilingual ability in Spanish and English is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using a personal computer for information retrieval and data entry.
• Ability to operate postage machines and manage cash accounts.
