Food Service Worker I – Oglethorpe Campus

About the role

The University of Georgia is seeking a Food Service Worker I to support dining operations on the Oglethorpe campus. This full‑time position involves a mix of manual and semi‑skilled tasks in a busy dining hall environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist cooks with food preparation tasks such as cleaning and paring vegetables, washing dishes, and maintaining the serving line.
• Serve meals to patrons, clean tables, and sweep floors to ensure a tidy dining area.
• Operate food‑service equipment including meat slicers, mixing machines, steam cookers, and beverage machines.
• Perform additional duties assigned by management, such as stocking products and handling cash operations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of safe food handling practices and basic food preparation methods.
• Physical ability to lift loads up to 50 lb, push/pull items up to 30 lb, and stand for long periods.
• Comfort working in noisy, hot or cold environments and handling cleaning chemicals.
