Member of Technical Staff – Safety

About the role

Abundant is a research lab focused on long‑horizon AI challenges. As a Member of Technical Staff with a focus on Safety, you will partner with the founding team to embed AI safety principles across all workflows and products, ensuring responsible research that benefits society.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and execute foundational safety research aligned with Abundant’s long‑horizon and simulation focus.
• Position Abundant as a leader in post‑training AI safety through thought leadership and community engagement.
• Identify, design, and build novel tooling to advance the company’s safety objectives.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, NLP, or a related field with a strong publication record (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR preferred).
• Proven ability to ship research into production, especially in post‑training, distillation, and high‑stakes evaluation.
• Experience with large‑scale agent systems, orchestration frameworks, tool APIs, distributed execution, observability, and logging infrastructure.
• Strategic understanding of societal and safety impacts of general‑purpose AI, with experience advising on policy a plus.

• Base salary $250,000 – $450,000 per year
