Mechanical Engineer II – Advanced Robotics

About the role

Carnegie Robotics is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to join its interdisciplinary team developing reliable robotic and automation systems for a wide range of commercial and R&D applications.

Key responsibilities

• Perform engineering tasks across the product lifecycle, from concept development to field support.
• Model parts and assemblies in SolidWorks, conduct FEA and CFD analyses, and create GD&T manufacturing drawings.
• Design mechanisms with multiple degrees of freedom, selecting appropriate bearings, motors, and power solutions.
• Collaborate with software, electrical, and systems engineers, and work with technicians to prototype using in‑house tools.
• Test components in labs and on‑site tracks, prepare test reports, and support occasional travel for system validation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including product design that integrates mechanisms and electronics.
• Strong accountability, ability to work independently, and excellent written and presentation skills.

Required skills

• SolidWorks CAD modeling.
• Ansys (FEA) and CFD simulation tools.
• Python scripting for analysis and automation.
• GD&T drawing creation and BOM management.
