Manufacturing Technician II (T2)

About the role

Join Applied Materials as a Manufacturing Technician II in Austin, TX, working hands‑on in a cleanroom environment to build, test, and repair multimillion‑dollar display and wafer fabrication equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, electro‑mechanical, vacuum, and pneumatic assemblies using schematics, wiring diagrams and work orders.
• Perform testing with fixtures, electronic measurement equipment, leak detectors and vacuum pumps, and document results.
• Conduct parts audits, inspect for defects, and ensure availability of required components.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant cleanroom work environment, following all safety protocols.

Required profile

• Physically able to stand for long periods, work in tight spaces, lift heavy items and operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Willingness to work 40‑60 hours per week, including scheduled Saturdays.
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions, safety procedures and cleanroom gowning protocols.

Required skills

• Electro‑mechanical assembly and repair.
• Use of test fixtures, electronic measurement tools, helium leak check fixtures and vacuum pumps.
• Familiarity with SAP/IOMS automated work instructions.
• Cleanroom PPE compliance and gowning procedures.
• Operation of calibration tools, overhead crane and forklift.
