InterSystems IRIS Developer – Remote

About the role

We are seeking an experienced InterSystems IRIS Developer to support a large federal healthcare modernization project for the Department of Veterans Affairs. This 100% remote position involves designing, building, and sustaining data‑migration solutions that move VistA data to Oracle Health.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and sustain enterprise applications using InterSystems IRIS/Caché and ObjectScript, including VX130 data extraction, transformation and validation.
• Analyze VistA data structures, FileMan files and globals to create reliable enhancements and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Implement RESTful APIs, web services and system integrations following VA standards and healthcare interoperability requirements.
• Perform unit, functional, integration and performance testing; optimize database and application performance.
• Support production deployments, upgrades, incident resolution, containerization, automation and observability efforts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of enterprise application development with InterSystems Caché/IRIS and 3+ years of ObjectScript coding.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and documentation skills; ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.

Required skills

• InterSystems IRIS, InterSystems Caché, ObjectScript, IRIS classes, globals, SQL.
• REST API design, web services, HL7, XML, JSON.
• Version control and CI/CD tools: GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jenkins.
• Container and orchestration technologies: Linux, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Additional experience with VX130, VistA, FileMan, MUMPS, HealthShare/Ensemble, Oracle Health, Python, OpenAPI/Swagger, Fortify.
