In-House Privacy & Info Security Counsel

About the role

State Farm is expanding its legal team with a new satellite office in Chicago. The In‑House Privacy & Info Security Counsel will join the Privacy and Information Security Unit (PISU) within the Corporate Law Department, providing legal expertise at the intersection of law, technology and business.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance on federal and state privacy and information security laws, enterprise risk management, and compliance and ethics programs.
• Counsel on information retention, crisis management, AML/OFAC, business continuity, telematics, and technology‑related matters.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally to navigate the fast‑changing landscape of law, technology and business priorities.
• Support digital transformation initiatives, including AI and machine learning projects, while managing regulatory, contractual and reputational risks.

Required profile

• Licensed attorney with several years of experience in privacy, information security or related technology law.
• Demonstrated ability to work at the intersection of law, technology and business.
• Strong analytical and judgment skills, with a collaborative mindset.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid setting in Chicago and travel occasionally to corporate headquarters.
