In-House Privacy & Info Security Counsel

About the role

State Farm is expanding its legal footprint with a new satellite office in Chicago’s West Loop. The In‑House Privacy & Information Security Counsel will join the Privacy and Information Security Unit (PISU) of the Corporate Law Department, providing strategic legal guidance at the intersection of law, technology, and business.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on federal and state privacy and information‑security regulations, enterprise risk‑management, and compliance programs.
• Counsel on related matters such as data retention, crisis management, AML/OFAC, business continuity, telematics, and technology contracts.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align legal risk with fast‑changing technology initiatives, including AI and machine‑learning projects.
• Support digital‑transformation efforts while managing regulatory, contractual, and reputational risks.

Required profile

• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA‑accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
• Significant experience in privacy, information‑security, or technology law, preferably in a corporate or insurance environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, think strategically, and communicate complex legal concepts to non‑legal stakeholders.
