Immigration Legal Intern – Summer 2027 (Unpaid)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee in Denver seeks an Immigration Legal Intern for the summer of 2027. This unpaid position offers law students hands‑on experience supporting attorneys and accredited representatives in immigration matters.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with client intake, enrollment, and scheduling of appointments with interpreters and pro bono attorneys.
• Prepare and file immigration applications and petitions, and help draft motions for immigration court under supervision.
• Conduct legal research and maintain accurate physical and electronic case files.
• Support outreach efforts, client workshops, and “Know Your Rights” presentations.

Required profile

• Current law student or recent graduate interested in immigration law.
• Ability to work at least 25 hours per week during IRC office hours.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information.
• Effective communication in English; additional language skills are a plus.

Required skills

• Legal research and drafting of immigration motions.
• Computer literacy with standard PC systems.
