About the role
The Global Surge Team (GST) of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) seeks an Emergency Education, Early Childhood & Development Coordinator to join a roster of highly qualified humanitarian professionals. This position provides short‑term, specialized support in emergency and non‑emergency contexts, helping to ensure that children in crisis‑affected areas can access safe, quality education.
Key responsibilities
- Deploy on short notice (within 72 hours) to fill capacity gaps in education and early‑childhood programs.
- Provide technical guidance and hands‑on support for emergency education initiatives lasting up to three months.
- Collaborate with local partners, IRC field teams, and other humanitarian actors to design and implement child‑friendly learning spaces.
- Monitor and report on program outcomes, ensuring compliance with IRC standards and donor requirements.
- Contribute to risk analysis and capacity‑strengthening activities for frontline educators.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in emergency education, early childhood development, or child protection.
- Ability to work in high‑pressure, rapidly changing environments and travel on short notice.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to IRC’s humanitarian mission and values.
