Fuel Center Cashier

About the role

Brookshire Grocery Company, based in Tyler, Texas, is hiring a Fuel Center Cashier. The role covers maintaining the fuel center and kiosk, monitoring gas levels and deliveries, processing customer transactions and keeping the cash drawer and pumps clean and safe.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the fuel center and kiosk, monitor gas levels and deliveries, and complete customer transactions accurately while keeping the cash drawer properly maintained.
• Ensure correct checkout totals by keying and scanning items, and keep an accurate money count in the register.
• Keep pumps and the fuel area clean and safe, inspect pumps and ensure proper seals, and act on suspicious activity, emergencies, fires and fuel spills.
• Answer the telephone and transfer calls to the right store personnel.
• Stay current on tender policies for checks, credit, debit, coupons, EBT, AML and lottery, and follow local, state and federal laws on restricted items such as tobacco and cannabis-based products.
• Monitor inventory, generate end-of-shift or day reports, restock or inform management of reorders, and report parking lot issues to management.
• Greet customers, answer questions, handle complaints and assist with pump selection and product choices.
• Clean around pumps and the kiosk, empty trash cans, spot-clean spills and breakages, and follow safety procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum age of 16; partners who drive for company business must be 21 or older under the BGC Business Driver Policy.
• TABC/LACT/AATC certification where applicable, and Fuel Operator C training required.
• Typically involves on-the-job training.
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays; able to work outdoors in various weather and occasionally in wet, dusty or smelly conditions.

• Counting and calculating for cash handling and sales transactions.
• Clear written and verbal communication with customers and partners.
