About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Food Service Worker for the Martha K. Glaze Residential Youth Development Center in Hampton, GA. Under direct supervision, you will learn to prepare, heat, finish, and serve food while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Clean work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware.
• Prepare food by cleaning, peeling, slicing, and trimming using manual and electric appliances.
• Assist with food supply requisitions, sanitation, and maintenance inspections.
• Receive payment for food items and handle cash transactions.
• Replenish supplies at steam tables and service bars.
• Store food properly to prevent spoilage and unpack/store supplies.

Required profile

• Ability to work under direct supervision and learn on the job.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Reliability in handling cash and following payment procedures.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate loads.

Required skills

• Use of manual and electric food preparation equipment.
